Sarfraz Anjum Sarwar - a tribute by Sheikh Sarwar

During brief life with my grandparents and more with my parents, I learnt faith, ethics and love. They left for their permanent abode. I pray for Allah’s blessings on them.

The fifty years I spent with my wife Sarfraz Anjum; I found her a good faith-practicing, wife/mother, grandmother, daughter-in-law, friend and relative. Allah called her back January 20, 2008. All of a sudden this happening left me in the loneliness. I felt as if every thing has been taken away from me. I felt if I will not find anyone to talk about my problems. We are so busy in worldly life and never think of separation of each other.

I want to say something in her memory. I am thankful to the poet Ishrat (Godarvi?), who’s following poem expresses my feelings:

Wafa ke wa’day, wo saray bhula gya chup chaap
Wo meray dil ki diwaren hila gya chup chaap
Gham-i-Hayat ke taptay huay biaba’n men
Mujhey wo chhor kay tanha chala gya chup chaap
Na janay kon sa wo budnaseeb lamha tha
Jo gham ki aag men mujh ko jala gya chup chaap
Men jis ko chhuta hun Ishrat wo zakhm deta hai
Wo phool aisay chaman men khila gya chup chaap

Forgot all promises altogether, passed away calm quite
Shook all Supports of my heart and passed away calm quite
In the blazing desert of this sorrowful life
Left me alone and passed away calm quite
Oh! the unknown moment that brought me frustration
Pushed me in the flame of sorrow and passed away calm quite
Whichever flower I touch; it injurs me
Left such flowers glooming allover the garden and passed away calm quite!
