Myths observed by Sheikh Sarwar in 1940's in India

Are they still there?

People used to put a black goat head and spread different pulses, split beans, grams, etc. right in the middle of a street crossings to quell any evils.

Likewise coins showered over the bridegroom and bride to keep away evils. Some people (I should say outsiders) had fixed a large sheet between two bamboo sticks. They would open spread it below the falling coins to catch maximum possible. Such outsiders would do little dancing and singing in praise of bridegroom and bride for alms.

Mustard oil was sprinkled at the door step before the bride and bridegroom entered the house.

2009
There was a news item: when rebuilding a house they found a cat buried in wall to ward off evils. Somewhere a shoe was found.
