Barkat Ali, my father:
He worked at Sukkur Barrage in Sind - and therefore, perhaps, some people called him Barkat Ali Sindhu. He worked as manager with Bombay Brass Works (Adampur or Adampur Road) Jalandhar. He worked as accountant/also called munshi. Was a neat tracer and people got their building plans drawn by him. He was fond of music; had a harmonium on a folding table and I heard him rehearsing some poetry.
He was a kind father. Coming back from job, every day, he used to bring some fruit / sweets. He got ill children treated as soon as possible. For eyes and ear treatment he took us to a hindu (Lal Chand?) running grocery store and for cough etc. to another hindu (Ram Chand?) running grocery store and also selling his own produced syrups and arqs (medicinal extracts drawn by steam).
My father produced some medicinal things also; like silver powder?, almond oil. He published a booklet "Ramuz-i-Zindgi" For some medicines had manufactured.
